La
Alameda, también conocida como Plaza Pío XII, ocupa todo el frontal
del Palacio Episcopal. Se proyectó en 1844, pero su aspecto actual se configuró
en 1981, junto a la rehabilitación del Palacio Episcopal. Hasta esta época, la
Alameda contó con un kiosco construido en 1926, que convirtió a la Plaza,
durante gran parte del siglo XX, en el principal punto de encuentro y lugar de
recreo al aire libre. Actualmente es utilizada también para la celebración de
actos culturales y festivos y es uno de los rincones más frecuentados por los
visitantes en su recorrido por el Centro Histórico.
La Alameda, also known as the Plaza Pío XII, is a wide
expanse of public space in front of the Episcopal Palace. It dates from 1844,
but its current form took shape in 1981, together with the renovation of the
Episcopal Palace. Until that point, the Alameda had a kiosk which made this square
a popular meeting place for outdoor socialising. Currently it is used for
cultural events and festivities and is one of the most frequented spots by
visitors to the historic town centre.
Die Alameda („Allee“) - auch als Pío XII-Platz bekannt - besetzt die ganze
Vorderseite des Bischofspalastes. Sie wurde 1844 entworfen, doch die heutige
Gestaltung verdankt der Platz den Arbeiten in 1981, die zum selben Zeitpunkt
wie die Sanierung des Bischofspalastes durchgeführt wurden. Bis zu diesem
Zeitpunkt war die Alameda mit einem Kiosk bestückt, der 1926 gebaut worden war
und der den Platz den größten Teil des 20.Jahrhunderts in den Mittelpunkt des
Gesellschaftslebens verwandelte. Nun wird er auch für Festakte und kulturelle
Veranstaltungen genutzt, und ist einer der meistbesuchten Plätze bei dem
Spaziergang durch die Altstadt.
